About the Yaghoubi Family
A Heritage Rediscovered
My family's story begins in Tehran.
My grandmother was born and raised in Iran, where education was deeply valued within our family. Following the Iranian Revolution, our family was forced to leave behind the country they called home and begin again elsewhere.
As I grew older, I found myself wanting to better understand not only where my family came from, but also the history and traditions connected to our heritage.
Learning more about my family's Mizrahi Jewish roots became an important part of that journey.
Why Jewish Heritage?
Exploring Jewish heritage became a way of reconnecting with a part of my family's story that had faded over time.
The emphasis Judaism places on learning, preserving memory, and passing knowledge from one generation to the next resonated deeply with the values my grandmother had always shared with me.
It reminded me that heritage is not only something we inherit. It is also something we choose to preserve.
Why Women's Education?
The women in my family taught me that education creates opportunity.
My grandmother's resilience and determination shaped the way I see the world today. Her story inspired my belief that investing in girls' education is one of the most meaningful ways to strengthen families, empower communities, and create lasting change across generations.
Why the Middle East?
The Middle East is part of my family's story.
Its history is often told through conflict, yet it is also home to extraordinary cultures, traditions, languages, and communities whose stories deserve to be celebrated. Through the Yaghoubi
Foundation, I hope to encourage greater understanding by highlighting the region's rich cultural heritage while supporting education and opportunity for future generations.
